Zuri Zanzibar

The Zuri Zanzibar resort is located on Kendwa – a beautiful sunset facing white beach on the north western shores of Zanzibar, around 50 km from Stone Town and the international airport. Children of all ages are welcome.

Accommodation & Facilities
The majority of the 56 bungalows, suites and beach villas that make up the resort overlook the beach and azure waters of the Indian Ocean. The cozy bungalows are furnished with a mix of contemporary and local pieces and decorated with African artwork. The outside showers and generous terraces provide a lovely combination of inside/outside living. The suites have a separate bedroom and living area, private terrace and Jacuzzi. The lovely beach villas all have exclusive oceanfront locations with a private stretch of beach and Jacuzzi.

The best option for families with young children are the six suites which all have sofa beds in the living area and can accommodate two children and two adults sharing a bathroom. There are also inter-connecting family rooms; two bungalows connected by the exterior deck and internally by a small corridor – these are ideal for families with slightly older kids as they have rope balconies. The two bedroom villas have a master bedroom and a twin room with an optional extra bed for child up to age 12 thereby accommodating up to four adults and one child.  The three bed villa has a private pool, kitchen, dining area and entertainment room. The three bedrooms have one king sized bed, four single beds and an optional two extra beds for children up to age 12 thereby accommodating up to six adults and two children on extra beds.

There is a large 32 metre infinity swimming pool, spa, and indoor and outdoor ‘wild fitness’ gym areas and a lush spice garden to explore.

Eating & Sleeping
The three restaurants provide a fusion of African, European, Arabic and Indian cuisine which can be enjoyed on the beach or in the privacy of your own accommodation. Room service is also available from 07.30 – 21.30hrs ensuring there is always somewhere to eat.

Babysitting is provided by the housekeeping ladies and is charged at US$12/hour for up to two children.

Activities
The water sports centre offers the rental of equipment for snorkelling and various other non- motorized water sports. Discover the traditions of Swahili cuisine with a cooking lesson in the resort’s Spice Garden House or practise yoga while watching one of Zanzibar’s famous sunrises. Beach games such as volleyball and petanque as well as several children’s games are available. Diving in the area is good and the hotel can arrange diving as well as PADI certificated courses. Trips to UNESCO protected Stone Town, Spice Tours and to Prison Island or Jozani Forest to see the rare red colobus monkey can be arranged. Kwendwa is unaffected by the massive tidal fluctuations that plague the rest of the region’s beaches so guests can enjoy swimming all day long.

Specifically for children …
Zuri Zanzibar does not have a kids club but the beach is very child friendly with no rocks, tide impact or seaweed. There are various beach and board games available for kids as well as a large DVD library and pool table. The WIMBI watersports centre offers age appropriate kit such as snorkels, life jackets etc for rental.  Day trips to visit the colobus monkeys in the Jozani Forest or giant Aldabran tortoise of Prison Island can be arranged as can the chance to swim with dolphins.
