Easter combining Vic Falls, Safari and Cape Town
Victoria Falls, a safari in Botswana’s Okavango Delta, then a few days exploring Cape Town is like a like a classic sandwich with the safari as the filling. It’s safari holiday that works brilliantly if you are looking for an exciting idea during the Easter holidays.
Victoria Falls
Victoria Falls is a great place to start an Easter holiday. The falls themselves will be powerful at this time of year, throwing spray up to a mile into the air and rattling doors and windows in town.

You also get a chance to sleep-in a couple of times to get over any fatigue from the overnight travel. While the time difference is slight, between Europe and Africa at least, everyone appreciates a couple of lazy mornings before the early starts of safari days. There are plenty of activities to enjoy, from bungee jumping from the Livingstone Bridge to boat trips on the river or helicopter and light aircraft flights.

Botswana safari
A short drive to Kasane and a light aircraft flight makes it easy to access the safari areas of Botswana. High wildlife densities mean viewing is good although the longer grass and thicker bush at this time of year can make seeing far into the distance tricky. A good guide brings the bush to life and there will be plenty of young animals and vivid photography opportunities.

Cape Town city break
There are daily direct flights from Botswana to Cape Town and a rich variety of places to stay in and around the city. You can choose from 5* luxury on the Waterfront or a boutique hotel close to the restaurants and bars of Kloof Street. It’s easy to get around on foot or taxi, while renting a car for a few days will mean you have easy access to the nature reserve of the Cape peninsular, penguins on Boulders Beach, or the myriad of vineyards and craft shops around Franschhoek.

It’s a holiday that works for couples and families alike with plenty of safari camps offering family friendly accommodation and activities. It’s difficult to imagine a more diverse trip which could even be fitted into ten days at a push.
