Marketing Manager

About The Role

Based in our offices in Musselburgh, Edinburgh and reporting directly to co-owner Alice Gully, the Marketing Manager will be a key person within the Aardvark Safaris’ team. Responsible for driving all marketing activity within the business across a range of areas, the successful candidate will work closely with staff within the company, and a number of external consultants, to raise awareness of the brand and drive quality enquiries.

Key responsibilities

– Assist with longer and medium term strategic marketing planning for growth, including involvement in the production of a marketing budget
– Monitoring and reporting on results of all marketing activities through analysis of GA and CRM statistics
– Create and deliver a social media strategy across Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter including proactive and reactive management of the accounts
– Plan, source, compile and edit material for a regular printed newsletter including liaising with an external designer and mailing house
– Plan and help execute the sales team’s attendance at consumer shows and client events, and invite relevant clients to these
– Liaising with suppliers, an external PR, and journalists, on reactive and proactive press quotes, press releases, press trips and story ideas
– Maintaining the Aardvark Safaris’ website, with the help of an external company, including adding/updating camp pages, blogs, and text and photos
– Creating, editing, and uploading blogs used in a monthly e-newsletter campaign
– Maintaining e-news lists and sending out monthly newsletters using Mailchimp software
– Researching printed advertising options and target audience, designing ads with an external designer, and booking space
– Liaising with an expert on PPC and other digital advertising to design and run campaigns
– CRM and CMS management including segmentation, image uploads and text input
– Assisting in business development and partnership activity, helping to deliver on brand partnership opportunities

Essential Skills

– A marketing background
– Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
– Articulate, professional, and with an excellent eye for detail
– Comfortable liaising with stakeholders at all levels of experience and seniority- A clear and concise communication style in both written and spoken English.
– Strong time management and multi-tasking skills with the ability to organise and prioritise workload to achieve agreed deadlines

Desirable Skills

– Knowledge of luxury travel products across Africa and the Indian Ocean
– Experience in CRM and CMS systems
– Numerate with an understanding of accounts
– Confident with IT
