Wayo Africa

Wayo Africa, a well-established operator of authentic mobile safaris in Tanzania, is owned by Jean Du Plessis. Wayo operates traditional tented safaris enabling guests to get back to basics and experience the African bush in a way not possible from a permanent lodge or camp.

Accommodation & Facilities
Camps are pitched in exclusive, remote locations. Depending on the location, the tents are either simple three metre dome tents or four metre bell-tents with a two metre pitched roof allowing ample space to move around inside. The comfortable tents each have raised beds with proper mattress and full bed linen, as well as an adjoining bathroom tent with a basin, short drop loo and a bucket shower.  Meals are home cooked by the very friendly camp team and are typically enjoyed served under the African stars or in the separate dining tent.

Wildlife & Activities
Mobile safaris are an excellent way to see Tanzania and to get off the beaten track but also follow animal movements and to reach the areas of greatest wildlife concentrations throughout the year. You will be hosted by a knowledgeable, friendly and professional guide throughout your Wayo Africa safari. Activities on offer include dedicated walking safaris where you get to explore the pristine wilderness areas on foot in the company of a specialist walking guide, or wildlife drives in comfortable fully safari-equipped 4×4 vehicles. Mountain biking, fly camping, scenic hikes, night drives, canoeing, tree-top canopy walks, visits to local villages, and swimming in natural pools can also be included.
