One&Only Gorilla's Nest Lodge

One and Only Gorilla’s Nest is a luxurious hotel hidden in a forest of eucalyptus trees near the magnificent peaks of the Volcanoes National Park in northern Rwanda. The lodge has a wonderfully private and peaceful setting in a densely populated part of this beautiful country.

Accommodation & Facilities
One and Only Gorilla’s Nest has 14 lodge rooms with either one or two bedrooms and seven huge one bedroom suites. The bedrooms all have en-suite bathrooms with bathtubs and outside showers. The rooms and suites have lounge space inside, tv, minibar and a coffee machine, indoor fireplaces, viewing decks and outside seating. The decor is inspired by the traditions of Rwanda, and the majority of decorative pieces are crafted locally. The hotel has a restaurant, bar and lounge, a pool and a spa. Much of the food served is locally sourced, with local farmers working hand in hand with the chefs to ensure consistent quality and supply.

Wildlife & Activities
Rwanda’s Virunga Volcanoes are home to several families of habituated mountain gorillas, which can be visited on guided daily treks. One and Only Gorilla’s Nest is an excellent place for a base while searching for these magnificent great apes, among our closest relatives. As well as the main attraction, the mountains are home to golden monkeys and more than 300 species of birds. Guided forest walks are a good way to find wildlife, and the hotel works closely with local communities who welcome visits. Tours of coffee plantations and banana farms can be arranged at the hotel along with e-mountain biking along forest trails.
