Zanzibar Pearl Boutique Hotel and Villas

Zanzibar Pearl Boutique Hotel is situated near the village of Matemwe, on the north east coast of Zanzibar, which is about an hour by car from Stone Town. This is one of prettiest places on the east coast of Zanzibar, where phones and television sets seem to belong to another planet, as the “No Shoes, No News” sign proclaims on arrival.

Accommodation & Facilities

Zanzibar Pearl has just 17 rooms, five suites and a honeymoon suite, which are all just 30 paces from the Indian Ocean. The rooms have hot showers and good lighting, while the kerosene lamps at night create a cosy atmosphere around the hotel. The thatched rooms are simply furnished and en-suite. Meals are served in the dining room overlooking the sea and beach or at the poolside bar during the day. Seafood is a speciality and fresh fish is prepared with Swahili flair on a daily basis

Wildlife & Activities

Matemwe is a tranquil and relaxing area, and offers sailing in the local “Ngalawas”, (traditional fishing boats with wooden outriggers), snorkeling and diving at Mnemba reef. Whales, dolphins or sea turtles can be spotted at close range at some times of year. Zanzibar Pearl has a fully equipped PADI dive school and dive centre on site. Guided reef walks and visits to the local village and fish market are available on request.
