Fumba Beach Lodge
Located on the untouched western coast of Zanzibar, Fumba Beach Lodge is approximately 30 minutes south of Stone Town. Fumba Peninsular is a designated area of outstanding natural beauty. Well away from the tourist trail and set within tropical forests, Fumba Beach Lodge creates a calm, tranquil environment in which to relax. Children of all ages are welcome.
Accommodation & Facilities
Fumba Beach Lodge is made up of 26 spacious rooms of varying size. For families there are 20 Deluxe Garden View or Sea View bandas with en-suite bathrooms, private terrace, ocean view and king sized beds. All rooms can be made as twin or as double and in every room a maximum of two extra single beds can be added for children. Furthermore two sets of Sea View Rooms are adjoining and one set of Garden View Rooms are adjoined providing a great option for larger families. All rooms are privately located within walking distance from the main buildings. There is also a small spa. The ocean view lodge pool is very child friendly, there are steps in and a very shallow end.
Eating & Sleeping
Chefs are very used to catering to children of all ages. Children’s meals are served at any time and there is a children’s menu for lunch and dinner. There is no formal childcare but should parents wish to dine later then a member of housekeeping or security staff can sit outside the room in the evening. This service is subject to availability of staff and best requested in advance.
Activities
Activities at Fumba Beach Lodge are predominantly spent in or around the warm Indian Ocean waters that surround the lodge. There is an on-site water sports centre offering PADI scuba diving, kayaking and windsurfing. Dhow sailing excursions are available locally, as are trips to beautiful Pungume Island where snorkelling is prime and dolphins are commonly sighted. Trips to Historic Stone Town and Spice Tours can be arranged.
Specifically for children …….
• The watersport centre offers ‘Bubble Makers’, which is an introduction to scuba diving for children (aged eight to 11).
• Children are able to join snorkel excursions, accompanied by their parents and age appropriate kit is available.
