Jack’s Migration Camp – now closed

**Jack’s Migration Camp is now closed.  Other camps in the area you might consider are Jack’s Camp and San Camp.**

Jack’s Migration Camp is set among desert palms on the edge of the Makgadikgadi National Park in Botswana. It offers a complete desert experience focusing on species unique to the area such as gemsbok, brown hyena and springbok, as well as the geology, archaeology and anthropology of the Kalahari and Makgadikgadi.

Accommodation & Facilities

The eight spacious and stylish tents at Jack’s Migration Camp have comfortable four-poster canopy beds, indoor showers and flush loos. Meals are served in a thatched dining room and lounge, which also houses a museum cabinet comprising Botswana’s most remarkable collection of artefacts, collected over several decades by the Bousfield family. The camp has a swimming pool with great views of the surrounding plains.

Wildlife & Activities

The Makgadikgadi Pans are a relic of one of the world’s largest super-lakes that dried up thousands of years ago. Unique highlights of a stay here include walking with a family of habituated meerkats, as they go about their daily life, and walking with Bushmen to learn about their lives and how they survive in this harsh land. Year round day and night wildlife drives are a great way to observe desert dwelling species, and during the wet season you can see the annual zebra and wildebeest migration and seasonal waterfowl breeding sites.  Guests can also visit the historical Seven Sisters Baobab Tree, made famous by the explorers Livingstone, Selous and Baines. Riding a large-tyred bicycle is a great way to explore the pans and the desert. Excellent horse riding is also available at an additional charge, and must be pre-booked.
