Kala Camp

Kala Camp has a very beautiful and remote setting on a small island in a 50,000 hectare private concession in the northern reaches of the Okavango Delta, Botswana’s iconic wildlife paradise. The camp has a far reaching westerly view across channels and seasonal floodplains and riverine forest on other islands in the distance.

Accommodation and Facilities

Kala Camp has just six traditional Meru style safari tents built onto raised decks, with en-suite bathrooms, bedside fans, and private verandahs offering unimpeded views of the surrounding wilderness. The camp has a raised mess tent with a dining room, a bar and a very relaxing lounge, and the camp also has a pool and an outside viewing deck.

Wildlife and Activities

The area around Kala Camp is often flooded by the Okavango River, and as a result activities are mostly water-based, with mokoro (dug-out canoe) and boat trips on offer. Walking safaris on drier land are also on offer, along with excellent bird watching. Elephant, buffalo, sitatunga, red lechwe, and other water-loving wildlife can be seen in the vicinity, and the bird life is prolific and varied year round.
