Nkarhi Homestead

Nkarhi Homestead is a traditional self-catered South African homestead in the 20,000 acre private Timbavati Reserve on the western border of South Africa’s renowned Kruger National Park. The reserve has an unfenced border with the National Park allowing animals free range and giving guests the opportunity to view the greatest diversity of wildlife that Africa has to offer. Beautifully positioned on a hill with sweeping views over the plains and bushveld, Nkarhi is a wonderful base for a family or group of friends from which to explore the surrounding wilderness.

Accommodation & Facilities
Nkarhi, which means time in the local Tsonga language, is a Self-Catered exclusive-use property that accommodates up to nine guests in two totally off-grid properties. The main house comprises two bedrooms and bathrooms while the separate cottage has two bedrooms and a large family bathroom. Between the two are beautifully kept lawns, a garden lounge, swimming pool and boma. The house comes fully staffed with a guide, tracker, and housekeeper, and a butler. Guests have the use of a fully equipped kitchen to prepare their own meals.

Wildlife & Activities
In the heart of Timbavati, the property is in an excellent wildlife area with resident leopard, black and white rhino, elephant and plenty of plains wildlife. Safari activities include morning and afternoon wildlife drives with superbly experienced and knowledgeable guides, and expertly guided bush walks to unlock more of the fine details that cannot be seen from a vehicle. Thanks to this being a private reserve, very few other vehicles share the wildlife area, and the wildlife viewing is very peaceful and private as a result. The stargazing is superb and sundowners and meals outdoors are easily arranged.
