The Strand Hotel has a prime waterfront location in Swakopmund on Namibia’s Atlantic coast. Situated on the Mole, the hotel has an excellent view of the waterfront and the sea.

Accommodaiton & Facilities
The Strand Hotel has a total of 125 rooms, offering a variety of options such as standard and luxury rooms, Junior and Luxury suites, and a magnificent Presidential Suite. The rooms all have sea views through floor to ceiling windows, high quality ensuite bathrooms, air-conditioning, Wi-Fi, writing desks, a flat screen TV, and very comfortable beds. Families are well provided for with interleading rooms and suites available. The hotel has very welcoming public spaces, and a nautical theme to the décor. There is a luxurious lounge, a lovely bar with its own terrace, and three restaurants offering a variety of cuisine, and a café and take away on the beach. One fun feature of the hotel is its own micro-brewery, a part of the Brewer and Butcher restaurant, which mostly serves meat dishes. The Ocean Cellar is the hotel’s seafood restaurant, which also serves sushi and sashimi, and the Farmhouse Deli is a bistro style restaurant, café, bakery, and shop.

Wildlife & Activities
Swakopmund is ideal for an overnight stay between Namibia’s great wilderness regions of the Namib Desert and Damaraland and Kaokoland. It’s a pleasant town with a much cooler climate than the desert inland, and has a surprisingly relaxed atmosphere, although it’s not a traditional seaside resort town. Although the ocean is too chilly for all but the hardiest, there are numerous activities on offer in the region, including quad biking in the desert, scenic flights, sand boarding in the dunes, camel and horse rides in the desert nearby, and excellent beach fishing. For anyone who enjoys marine wildlife, kayaking and boat trips on nearby Walvis Bay lagoon are a good way to see seals, pelicans and flamingos.
