Cosmoledo Atoll

Cosmoledo Atoll, a cluster of 21 island in the western Indian Ocean, is one of the most remote atolls in the Outer Islands of Seychelles, more than 1,000 km southwest of Mahé. The only access is by flying to Astove, and then taking a 45 minute boat trip to Cosmoledo. The atoll is known for its natural beauty, biodiversity, and remote location.

Accommodation & facilities

Cosmoledo Island has just one lodge which consists of eight Eco Pods built from shipping containers with wood floors and concertina glass walls that slide away to allow nature in. The Eco Pods have en-suite bathrooms behind the bedroom, and shade roofs over the top and a verandah with a wooden deck at the front. The lodge is perched on the tip of one arm of crescent shaped Wizard Island with a lagoon in the middle, and has a central mess tent with a dining room, lounge, and bar with sand floors. Meals are a sociable affair on Cosmoledo, adding to the fun of visiting this remote paradise.

Wildlife & Activities

Cosmoledo offers a multitude of activities including guided kayaking around the atolls, stand up paddle boarding, coastal trails, and reef flats expeditions. The blue water and fly fishing is superb, with one of the biggest populations of giant trevally anywhere, and guests have access to some of the finest fly fishing guides in the world. Cosmoledo is home to the Seychelles’ largest colonies of all three species of booby, including the last viable population of brown booby. The lagoon and its sandy beaches are favoured nesting sites for large populations of hawksbill and green turtles.
