Chintheche Inn

Chintheche Inn is situated on the western shores of central Lake Malawi, Africa’s third largest lake which stretches over 500 kilometres from north to south. Just south of Nkhata Bay, the Inn has a wonderful broad sandy beach and extensive grounds with many impressive indigenous trees.

Chintheche Inn offers ten en-suite rooms, each brightly furnished, and has its own balcony overlooking the beautiful shoreline of Lake Malawi. There is also a swimming pool for those who prefer, with a 180 degree view of the lake. The Inn has an excellent reputation for fine cuisine and offers a full bar.

Activities & Wildlife

While swimming in the lake from the lakeshore is not recommended, the activities on offer at Chintheche Inn include not only the obvious watersports of a lakeside resort, but also land based activities and explorations of the nearby tropical forest. This includes bird walks, hikes and mountain biking trails. A visit to the local fishing villages or the nearby Bandawe Mission also offers a fascinating peek into the country’s colonial history.
