Sonop

Sonop is a luxurious tented camp on a 13,800 acre private concession in the Namib Rand Nature Reserve on the edge of the Namib Desert in southwest Namibia. Designed to blend with its environment, the camp is built into and on top of a tumbled pile of granite boulders and has incredible panoramic views of the surrounding desert landscape.

Accommodation & Facilities
The colonial-style camp has eight spacious one-bedroom tents and two, two-bedroom tents designed to accommodate groups or families. Each tent features a four-poster bed, a living area, an en-suite bathroom, a large private terrace, campaign-style explorer antiques and vintage furnishings. The canvas sides of the bedroom and bathroom can be rolled up to allow guests to enjoy the magnificent scenery.  The central part of the camp has a dining room and bar, cocktail and cigar lounge, a spa, fitness centre and open-air infinity pool overlooking the vast desert plains.

Experiences & Activities
Sonop offers a variety of activities for exploring the desert and its flora and fauna, including scenic nature drives, horse riding, bush walks, and e-bike rides. Guests can also see the vast landscape from a different perspective with a helicopter tour or hot air balloon safari before returning for a private dinner on top of the dunes. In the evenings enjoy a classic film by the pool at the open-air cinema followed by stargazing in Africa’s first International Dark Sky Reserve.
