Time + Time King Lewanika Lodge

Time + Time King Lewanika Lodge is a new luxury lodge set in Zambia’s remote Liuwa Plain National Park.  Liuwa is country’s fourth largest National Park and Africa’s oldest game reserve, proclaimed as such by King Lewanika of Barotseland in the 1880’s.  It was protected as a royal hunting reserve thereafter by the Lozi people, and became a national park in 1972. Extending to 3,660 km square, the park is very remote, being a two hour flight from Lusaka.

Accommodation & Facilities
Time + Time King Lewanika Lodge is located on the upper Munde stream, a site chosen for its sweeping vistas and complete wildlife immersion.  Designed by acclaimed architects, Silvio Rech and Lesley Carstens, the lodge comprises six luxury villas including a two bedroomed family villa, with the capacity to accommodate 15 guests.

Wildlife & Activities
Liuwa Plain is known for its wildebeest migration, the second largest remaining in Africa, numbering about 40,000. The park has large numbers of resident hyena, zebra, tsessebe, and red lechwe, and the predators to be seen include wild dog, cheetah and lion. Thanks to being largely open floodplains and grassland, the birdlife here is also prolific with more than 300 species recorded including large numbers of crowned and wattled cranes. Game drives and walking safaris access many parts of the park, and you are likely to see no other vehicles at all.  It is also possible to take game drives and attend lectures with the Zambia Carnivore Programme research team.
