Letaka Safaris – Moremi

Letaka Safaris operate mobile safaris across the vast expanse of wildlife-rich wilderness in northern Botswana. Using private camp sites in the Okavango Delta, Chobe National Park and the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, Letaka offer guests access to some of the most remote, beautiful, unspoilt and peaceful wildlife habitats in southern Africa. Letaka, which is the Setswana word for a reed, is owned and run by Grant and Brent Reed, who grew up in the bush and know and understand it like few others do.

Accommodation & Facilities
Letaka Safaris use private campsites with plenty of shade and great views in the Xakanaxa region of the Moremi Game Reserve. The camp will be set up on arrival, and consists of 4x3m walk-in mini-Meru style tents with open air en-suite bathrooms featuring a safari loo and a bucket shower. The camp also has a dining tent, should it be needed, although meals are mostly eaten outside. Meals are prepared over a camp fire, and there’s always a good supply of cold drinks, tea and coffee, and water to keep thirst at bay.

Wildlife & Activities
The activities here include morning and afternoon wildlife drives in open vehicles and boat trips through the channels of the Okavango. Breeding herds of elephant regularly move between their browsing areas in the mopane forests and the fresh waters of the Okavango. Red lechwe are one of the more unusual antelope species and commonly found here, while the rare sitatunga antelope may be spotted among the waterways of the Xakanaxa Lagoon. The Xakanaxa region is home to a resident herd of several hundred buffalo whose range covers the territories of at least four prides of lion which may often be seen flanking the ever moving herd. Moremi is also amongst the best reserves in Africa for viewing the endangered wild dog.
