Londolozi Pioneer Camp

Londolozi Private Game Reserve is set in the world-renowned Sabi Sands in South Africa, and has exclusive rights over 7,000 hectares, with the opportunity to game drive through another 9,000 hectares of adjoining wilderness. The campfire first lit in 1926 by Charles Boyd Varty and Frank Unger by the banks of the Sand River has not changed location, and the Londolozi camps are now run by the grand-children and great grand-children of these founders. A member of Relais Chateaux since the early 1990s, Londolozi’s camps provide luxurious accommodation in one of South Africa’s finest game areas. Children from the age of six are welcome at Londolizi Pioneer Camp.

Accommodation & Facilities
Pioneer Camp is perhaps the most secluded of Londolozi’s five camps and is set amongst the dappled shade of 500 year old ebony trees. The three private suites have wonderful river views and are perfect for travellers seeking a secluded getaway. The whole camp can be converted into a private bush home for family groups of up to 12 people. If the camp is not taken as a whole, suites two and three are inter leading so perfect for families. Alternatively each suite can accommodate up to two children, one in the small separate en-suite bedroom and the other in the lounge. Floor to ceiling glass doors allow wonderful views over the wilderness beyond. Each suite has a private pool, verandah, lounge area, air-conditioning, and WiFi.

Eating & Sleeping
For families taking the lodge exclusively, meals and mealtimes are totally flexible and chefs can cater to children’s food requests or modify the adult menu to suit. Specific dietary requirements can be accommodated with prior notice.

Wildlife & Activities
While at Londolozi guests can view some of Africa’s most impressive wildlife, particularly its famous leopards, on morning and evening game drives, or on bush walks. The guides and trackers at Londolozi are some of the best on the continent, and really add to the quality of a stay at the camp. Sleep-outs, adventure picnics, astronomy lectures, yoga and massages can also be arranged.
