Mara Expedition Camp

Mara Expedition Camp has a gorgeous setting in a patch of acacia trees overlooking a valley on the edge of the Masai Mara. The camp has a peaceful location on private land in a prime wildlife area between the Olare Motorogi conservancy and Masai Mara National Reserve. Children from 8 years are welcome.

Accommodation & Facilities
Mara Expedition Camp comprises just six light and airy canvas tents which are decorated with expedition-style furnishings and hand-picked pieces from African markets. There are no family tents as such, but a single children’s bed can be added to each of the tents. Each tent has a private verandah, dressing area and en-suite bathroom with a huge brass showerhead. The camp has a spacious and relaxing mess tent which has a lounge, bar, and dining table. Meals may also be eaten outside under the stars or in the shade of a tree.

Eating & Sleeping
The camp chefs are happy to cater for children with child friendly meals such as pizza, pasta dishes, fish and chips, chicken, steak and chips at mealtimes to suit. A complimentary listening service is offered whereby an Askari (guide) will be posted outside the sleeping child’s tent and will alert the parents if the child wakes.

Wildlife & Activities
Guests can experience both the intense action of the Masai Mara Reserve and the peaceful wildlife viewing offered by the private 70,000 acre Mara North Conservancy with morning and afternoon drives in customised Land Cruisers, which are equipped with fully stocked refrigerators and inverters. The camp is well positioned to take advantage of two migrations: the famous annual Serengeti wildebeest migration and the green season migration from Loita Plains, where an additional 50,000 wildebeest and over 100,000 zebras head west looking for grazing. Visits to local school and community projects can also be arranged whilst staying here.
