Luggage is limited on light aircraft, so safari goers generally need to pack light. However different African countries, and internal airlines, have difference weight allowances. While you will need to check your particular safari holiday, we’ve listed the main ones here as a general guide.

Botswana:  Luggage, including camera equipment and hand luggage, is restricted to 20 kg / 44 lbs per person.
Kenya:  SafariLink Luggage, including camera equipment and hand luggage, is restricted on internal light aircraft flights to 15 kg / 33 lbs per person.

SkySafari Luggage, including camera equipment and hand luggage, is restricted on internal light aircraft flights to 15 kg / 33 lbs per person.

Mombasa Air Safari Luggage, including camera equipment and hand luggage, is restricted on internal light aircraft flights to 15 kg / 33 lbs per person.

Air Kenya  Luggage, including camera equipment and hand luggage, is restricted on internal light aircraft flights to 15 kg / 33 lbs per person.

Malawi:  Ulendo Airlink Luggage, including camera equipment and hand luggage, is restricted to 15 kg / 33 lbs per person.
Maldives: Trans Maldivan Airways Luggage, including camera equipment and hand luggage, is restricted on sea-plane flights to 20 kg / 44 lbs per person.
Mozambique: 

 

Luggage, including camera equipment and hand luggage, is restricted to 20 kg / 44 lbs per person on helicopter flights to Benguerra Island.
Namibia

 

Luggage, including camera equipment and hand luggage, is restricted to 20 kg / 44 lbs per person.

Best of Namibia Wing Safaris and Namibia Explorations the luggage, including camera equipment and hand luggage, is restricted to 12 kg / 26 lbs per person.

Skeleton Coast Fly-In safari Luggage, including camera equipment and hand luggage, is restricted to 10 kg / 22 lbs per person.

Rwanda:  Internal transfers are typically done by road. Ask your tour operator if your itinerary includes a helicopter flight.
Seychelles: Air Seychelles Luggage, including camera equipment and hand luggage, is restricted on inter-island flights to 28 kg / 61 lbs per person.
South Africa: 

 

Fedair Luggage, including camera equipment and hand luggage, is restricted on internal light aircraft flights to 20 kg / 44 lbs per person.

Angel Gabriel Luggage, including camera equipment and hand luggage, is restricted on light aircraft flights to 15 kg / 33 lbs per person.

Tanzania:  Coastal Aviation Luggage, including camera equipment and hand luggage, is restricted on light aircraft flights to 15 kg / 33 lbs per person. They have an XL seat class available which allows 30kg  / 66lbs per person.
Uganda

 

AeroLink Luggage, including camera equipment and hand luggage, is restricted on internal light aircraft flights to 15 kg / 33 lbs per person.
Zambia: 

 

Proflight: Flights from Lusaka to Livingstone or Mfuwe allow each passenger one piece of luggage weighing up to 23 kg / 50 lbs.

All other small aircraft operated routes will allow each passenger to bring one piece of luggage, weighing no more than 15 kg / 33 lbs. Each passenger is allowed 1 carry on item (such as a laptop or purse), weighing up to 5 kg / 11 lbs.

Zimbabwe:  Wilderness Air: Luggage, including camera equipment and hand luggage, is restricted to 20 kg / 44 lbs per person.

Safari Logistics Luggage, including camera equipment and hand luggage, is restricted to 20 kg / 44 lbs per person.
