Maldives are go!

The Maldives comprises over 1,000 islands in the Indian Ocean, spread across 26 different coral atolls.  Many are uninhabited and each resort is located on an individual island.  If you are looking for warm seas, white sand beaches, superb accommodation, great diving, snorkelling and watersports, look no further – the Maldives easily lives up to its reputation as an idyllic paradise.

A short visit
The perfect ‘escapism weekend’ here is more than possible.  Take a direct flight from London Heathrow and choose a resort within a speedboat ride of the international airport and you will be relaxing on the beach or by your private plunge pool by lunchtime. Incredible service, delicious food, spectacular snorkelling and relaxing spa treatments, all in luxurious surroundings will ensure you are revived and restored after just a few nights. COMO Cocoa Island, with its 30 over water rooms, is the perfect base for a short break of this nature.

One week
With a longer to spend away you might choose to venture to a different atoll, accessed via seaplane. Skimming over the small islands with a clear view of the reefs and larger marine animals is a delight and only adds to the sense of remoteness you feel when arriving at a resorts like Constance Halaveli or Soneva Jani. A week would give you plenty of opportunity to explore the world below the surface, with manta rays, turtles, sting rays, black tipped sharks, and plentiful colourful reef fish to observe on scuba diving or snorkelling outings.

Two weeks
With two weeks or longer you could try one of the more remote atolls, accessed via a domestic flight and speedboat.  With fewer islands on the horizon and endless seascapes to marvel at, your escape is complete.  At Six Senses Laamu you will be cocooned in luxury whilst also having plenty of activities to enjoy should you wish.  Experienced divers can go out with the manta ray researchers based here, and  snorkelling on the house reef is first class.
