The ultimate safari and beach holiday

Make this a year to remember

This 17-day ultimate safari and beach holiday itinerary combines the best safari and beach destinations with beautiful upmarket camps and lodges that will blow your mind.

Soak up the buzz and vibrancy of Cape Town, explore the water channels of the Okavango Delta by mokoro, spot gorillas in the mountains of Rwanda, and witness the incredible herds of wildebeest during the migration in the Serengeti. End your epic trip with some R&R in Zanzibar with its pure white sandy beaches and crystal-clear azure water.

South Africa – Cape Town

The perfect starting point for your African adventure, Cape Town is a vibrant hub of activity and has some of the world’s best restaurants. Kloof and Bree Street in the city centre is full of independent shops, galleries, cafes, and a fantastic selection of restaurants. The V&A Waterfront has several shopping malls and is close to the pier where you catch the ferry to Robben Island. One&Only Cape Town puts you right at the heart of the action while giving you a sense of scale with incredible views of Table Mountain. For those looking for a slower pace, head further out and stay in the foothills of Table Mountain, or in Camp’s Bay, where you are a few steps away from a beautiful sandy beach.

Botswana – Okavango Delta

The waters of the Okavango Delta fan out across the desert sands in a beautiful maze of waterways and lagoons, creating a lush wetland wilderness home to a diverse range of flora and fauna. Explore one of the world’s largest inland water systems by mokoro (canoe) and boat, for a completely different perspective.  The birds and wildlife here are extraordinary and it is one of the most beautiful and peaceful wilderness areas to explore, especially when gliding through the channels in a mokoro. Mombo Camp is in a private concession and has deservedly attained a reputation as one of the very best camps in the Delta, offering breathtaking wildlife viewing and stunning accommodation.

Rwanda – Volcanoes National Park

Rwanda offers excellent gorilla viewing on the lower slopes of the Virunga Volcanoes, which tower over the surrounding hills, rising to 14,000 feet or so. The gorillas live in the bamboo forest lower down, but well above 6,000 feet. Staying at Bisate Lodge, you almost feel as though you are living within one of the archetypal gorilla nests with a serious touch of class and elegance. This lodge is situated a stone’s throw from the starting point of your trek and displays the most incredible attention to detail and service. Staying here feels like you’re amid pure wilderness.

Tanzania – Serengeti National Park

The exceptional Serengeti National Park is where you find the iconic East African open plains which appear to stretch to the horizon and are home to the annual wildebeest migration. Many of the camps in the Serengeti are semi-mobile which allows them to shadow the migration as it moves throughout the year. In June the migration can be found in the western part of the Serengeti. Singita Faru Faru is a stunning example of safari chic accommodation in one of a few private reserves in the Serengeti, and you will barely see another vehicle out in the bush here. You will have the opportunity to witness the sheer scale of the migrating herds, with predators lying in wait, and perhaps even capture one of their treacherous river crossings of the Grumeti River.

Zanzibar – Fanjove Island

The Zanzibar archipelago is the perfect place to finish an African adventure. Fanjove Island is a private tropical island south of Mafia Island in the Zanzibar Archipelago. Renowned for its untouched natural beauty, white sandy beaches, crystal-clear waters, and rich marine life. Surrounded by seven miles of intact and vibrant coral reef, it is teeming with marine life. In addition to the many reef fish, spinner dolphins, humpback whales, reef sharks and green turtles can be seen in the nearby ocean at different times of the year. Step off your beach villa deck, toes in the sand and wade right into the lovely tepid ocean; swim and snorkel straight off the beach; SUP or kayak for a marine safari or explore the beautiful pristine seven mile coral house reef snorkelling or diving. This is the perfect destination for those looking for the ultimate in exclusivity.

Indulge your inner wanderlust and go all out on this 17-day itinerary.
